Abstract
751,986. Travelling-wave tubes; magnetrons. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Feb. 24, 1954 [Feb. 26, 1953], No. 5515/54. Class 39 (1). In a travelling-wave magnetron of circular structure, the surfaces of the delay line 4 and the negative electrode 1 facing the interaction space have concentric circular profiles convex towards the axis O of the structure. The ratio between the beam and wave velocities is independent of radius from the axis O, i.e. equality between the beam and wave velocities may be preserved across the interaction space. The cathode 7 lies in a groove in the negative electrode and is shaped to conform to the surface of the negative electrode. The inner electrode 1 may be the delay line and the outer electrode 4 the negative electrode. The magnetron may be an amplifier or oscillator. Specification 663,728 is referred to.
