Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0750194/IV(a)/1> wherein X is oxygen or sulphur and R2 and R3 are alike or different and are hydrogen or lower aliphatic alkyl radicals (containing one to eight carbon atoms). Such compounds are obtained by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0750194/IV(a)/2> wherein R is halogen or an aliphatic alkoxy radical of one to eight carbon atoms inclusive with an N-amino-heterocyclic compound of the formula <FORM:0750194/IV(a)/3> or a salt thereof with hydrochloric acid in benzene, a lower aliphatic alcohol or a diluted lower aliphatic alcohol containing one to eight carbon atoms, at a temperature between 15 DEG C. and the boiling temperature of the selected solvent, if desired in the presence of a sodium acetate buffer solution. A slight excess, e.g. 1.05 to 1.5 mols., of the N-aminoheterocyclic compound per mol. of the isonicotinic acid ester or halide is employed. In examples (1) 1-isonicotinamidohydantoin is prepared by reacting N-amino-hydantoin with isonicotinyl chloride; (2) ethyl isonicotinate and 1-amino-3,5-dimethyl hydantoin are reacted in an aqueous alcohol solution of sodium acetate to form 1-isonicotinamido - 3,5 - dimethylhydantoin; (3) isonicotinyl chloride and 1-amino-2-thiohydantoin are reacted together in benzene to form 1-isonicotinamido - 2 - thiohydantoin.
