747,081. Wind deflectors. BAIER, 0., BAIER, W., BAIER, S., BAIER, L., BAIER, W., and SCHLUMPRECHT, E., [trading as BAIER KOMM.-GES. WEBASTO-WERK, W.]. Sept. 6, 1954 [Sept. 26, 1953], No. 25770/54. Classes 20(3) and 137. A transparent wind shield 5, hinged behind the front windscreen beneath the sliding roof 4 of a vehicle, is secured to the front frame member 2 of the roof opening by means of side arms 11 each of which has a slot 12 engaged by a pin 13 on a plate 6 or 7, screwed to the underside of the member 2. The slot and pin unions 12, 13 between the arms 11 and the plates 6 and 7, allow lugs 15 at the ends of the arms 11 to engage either pair of pins 16 or 17 on the plates 6, 7 to locate the shield respectively in an operative position as shown, or in a position beneath, and parallel to, the sliding roof 4 when closed. In a third position the shield is pivoted downwards so that the roof 4 can be operated. The shield can be locked in the selected position by means of clamps 14 which threadedly engage the ends of the pins 13. A part 19, cut out from the shield to accommodate the handle 18 of the roof when it is closed, also provides a ventilating opening when the shield is in its operative position. In a modification the shield is mounted laterally under the side frame of the roof opening in order to avoid sharp edge posts in the regions of the heads of the occupants of the vehicle.
