Abstract
745,945. Crimping tools. FOX & OFFORD, Ltd., CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A,. and FOX. J. P . May 20, 1954 [July 25, 1953], No. 20703/53. Class 61 A tool for crimping ferrules or sleeves to electrical conductors comprises handles 1, 2, pivoted at 3, the pivot being associated with a cam which, during the crimping operation first closes the dies and then moves an indenter 12 to effect the crimping. The fixed die 7 of the tool shown is mounted in the head 4 of the handle 1 and has pins 9 for guiding the movable die 8 which slides in the head and is controlled by a spring 10. The cam has two cam surfaces 11, 11a, for moving the indenter and die and these surfaces may be integral with the handle 2, or as shown the surface 11 may be on a separate plate. The surfaces are such that indentation is performed only after the dies are fully closed to embrace the ferrule. Specification 568,632 [Group XXXVI] is referred to.
