Abstract
Walling for a mine shaft comprises a framework supporting lining plates which are made from lightweight reinforced concrete members formed of hydraulic cement, at least one mineral constituent, wood waste such as wood shavings or sawdust, and a means for inhibiting decay or fungus formation, the means being such that the concrete is given a smooth surface, high strength, good adhesive properties and rapid hardening. The cement is preferably Portland cement. Pumice stone, gravel and agents for controlling density, such as Betowa and "Plastiment" (Registered Trade Mark) may also be added.
