742,023. Calculating-apparatus. HERONIMOS, A. J. June 18, 1954 [July 21, 1953], No. 20234/53. Class 106 (1). A proportionating device comprises a weight scale 11 mounted on a base, a parallel price scale 12 slidable on the base which bears a line 16 against which a unit price on the scale 12 is set, and an indicating arm 18 pivoted about a point 17 on the line 16 and settable in accordance with a given weight to ascertain the corresponding cost. The scale 11 may alternatively be arcuate and the scale 12 may have several ranges. The line 16, as shown, corresponds to a unit weight of 1 pound but this line may be adjustable to allow the setting of basic prices given for other unit weights, e.g. 12 ounces. The arm 18 may be set directly by a weighing mechanism.
