Abstract

741,658. Building blocks; cavity walls. BANKS, E. A., and SAUNDERS, C. E. April 7, 1953 [April 3, 1952], No. 8528/52. Classes 20(4) and 87(1). A building block A for a cavity wall is provided with a vertical rib 2 at each end of its rear face. Each rib is provided with a tongue 4 and a groove 5 and with an upward projection 6. The blocks A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP> in the opposite faces of a wall are reversed so as to interlock by tongues 4 and grooves 5, and filling pieces B are placed between adjacent blocks A<SP>1</SP> and A<SP>2</SP>. The pieces B have tongues to engage grooves 3 in the main blocks. Corresponding corner blocks C and end closer blocks D are provided.
