740,781. Pushing-jacks. BEUKENBERG, H., [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK GLUCKAUF G. KLERNER]. July 3,1953 [Sept. 26, 1952], No. 18504/53. Class 78 (3). A double-acting hydraulic jack adapted to move a coal face conveyer comprises a cylinder 1 pivoted at 3 to the conveyer 2, and a pistonrod 4 pivoted at 9 to a ground-engaging foot 8 to which a reaction strut 10 is pivoted at 12. As shown, the ground contacting portion of the foot 8 is flat, but in a modification (not shown) it is curved and serrated. The jack may comprise either a single piston and cylinder unit or a pair of such units operating in parallel between the conveyer and strut. A ratchet bar pivoted at 22 to the piston-rod or rods and engaging a pawl 15 rigid with the cylinder or cylinders forms a feed stroke limiting device. A spring 13 urges the strut 10 upwardly.
