Abstract
740,218. Batteries. RUSINOL, S. P. March 3, 1954, [March 3, 1953; May 12, 1953], No. 6247/54. Class 53. The container of a battery consists of two metal cups 1, 2 separated from one another by insulation 9, the open end of the outer cup being turned over as shown at 11 to press the insulation against the bottom of the inner cup to form a tight seal as shown in Fig. 1. The positive electrode 3 and electrolyte 5 are contained in the inner cup, the negative electrode 4 being in contact with the closed end of the outer cup. The cups form the poles of the battery. The bottom of the inner cup may project through the open end of the outer cup as shown in Fig. 3, the open end of the outer cup and the insulation 9 being turned over on a shoulder 12 of the inner cup. The battery may be of flat shape as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 or of cylindrical shape as shown in Fig. 16. In'the latter case the insulation between the two cups may take the form of rings 20, 21. One electrode may fit into a recess 26 in the outer cup which forms one pole, the other pole consisting of a projection 25 on the inner cup.
