Abstract
739,007. Spindle apparatus. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. May 7, 1954 [May 13, 1953], No. 13379/53. Class 120(2). A textile spindle comprises in combination a bolster 10, a spindle blade 13 rotatably mounted in said bolster, a driving wharve 15 on the spindle blade and means at the upper end of the spindle blade, as at 131, for making a driving connection thereof with a package carrier 14, the location of this connection being approximately at the centre of mass of the combined carrier and package, and the spindle blade possessing a degree of flexibility such that the revolving mass may flex together with the spindle blade in cantilever fashion under the influence of an asymmetrical load. A centrifugal balancing means comprising sealed annular containers containing a number of loose metal balls damped in oil may be fitted to the bobbin carrier at its upper and lower ends as shown at 17 and 18. A flexible sleeve like member may be fitted between the lower end of the carrier and the upper end of the wharve to keep out dust or "fly" and in another embodiment the socket 141 of the carrier 14 is fashioned in the shape of a diaphragm to enhance the resilience of the connection between the members in engagement.
