Abstract

735,904. Sliding-clasp fasteners. AERO ZIPP FASTENERS, Ltd. Jan. 19, 1954 [Feb. 18, 1953], No. 4514/53. Class 44. An automatically locking slider for a sliding clasp fastener is provided with a pull tab on each shield, an attachment member on one shield carrying one of the pull tabs which operates a spring- loaded, locking finger directly, while the other pull tab operates the finger remotely by means of a link member. In Fig. 6, the attachment member 30 is constructed and pivoted to the slider body and is operated by the pull tab 34 in the way disclosed in Specification 669,587. As the other tab 45 is rotated away from the slider the cam action of the pivot portions 44 displaces the link member 47, which lies in a channel in the neck of the slider, and the nose 48 of which bears against the attaching member 30 pivoting it outwards and withdrawing the locking fingers 38. Fig. 7 shows a modified cam action in which one end of the link member 147 is shaped to form a cam surface which is displaced when pivot portions 144 of pull tab 145 are moved laterally. In this case it is necessary to cut a slot in the bearing portion 142 to permit insertion of the link 147. Alternatively the cam surface may be formed on the inner surface of the connecting lug 142 (see Fig. 8, not shown). Fig. 9 shows a further embodiment where in the locking finger 438 is carried by a spring 437 integrally formed with an attaching member 430 non-pivotally mounted on the slider.
