Abstract
Soluble tampons are made of a plurality of soluble fibrous materials of different physical or chemical characteristics, combined in prearranged proportions. For example, the mass may comprise alginate fibres and cellulose ether fibres and may be impregnated with biologically active or therapeutic materials. In one form a web of one kind of soluble fibres has a layer of another kind deposited on it, the combined web is then cut into short lengths and rolled to form cylindrical tampons. Specification 722,629 is referred to.
