Abstract

734,891. Fruit grading. GARDYNE, I. M. BRUCE-. May 18, 1954 [May 21, 1953], No. 14349/53. Class 117. Apparatus for grading fruit comprises a downwardly inclined trough having stationary walls and a bottom opening or openings of increasing size. As shown, fruit rolls down a trough 2, 3 whose bottom opening 4 diverges, and falls through on to sloping floors 5 leading to containers 13. The divergence of the trough walls 2, 3 is adjustable. To check the speed of the fruit falling into the containers, flaps 16 of rubber are provided.
