Abstract

734,762. Automatic firearms. ORTOLANI, M. Nov. 30, 1951, No. 28089/51. Class 92(2). Relates to breech-bolts for automatic firearms of the kind comprising a block 1 and action slide 13, the latter carrying a firing pin 5 passing through a hole 3 in the block. According to the invention a guide 4 is arranged between the block and slide and serves to form a bearing surface for two rollers 10, 10a, these rollers being pushed outwards by the action slide, when the bolt is in the breech-closing position, into engagement with recesses 11 formed in the breech-casing 9. By this means the bolt is locked against longitudinal movement at the moment of firing. In the construction shown the rollers are engaged by inclined surfaces 12 on the front face of the slide, and when moved apart engage in pockets 14 in the slide and recesses in the block 1. The guide 4 is movably mounted within a groove 1a in the block and forms an abutment for the firing pin spring 5a. The ends of the guide are slidably accommodated in the breech casing as also are projections 18 on the action slide. Pins 8, 8a on the block and slots 7, 7a, in plates 6 attached to the slide limit the relative movement between the block and slide.
