Abstract

734,098. Rectilinear-motion bearings. COWDROY, T. C. Feb. 27, 1953 [July 9, 1952], No. 5486/53. Class 12 (1). A rectilinear-motion bearing for a sliding panel window comprises a runner 13 having a longitudinal channel of circular cross-section in which a plurality of balls 12 are located and a base member 10 having an upstanding web 11 on which the balls 12 run. Upper flanges 16 on the runner 13 locate the panel, and the lower portion of the runner is bifurcated to receive the web 11. The length of the runner 13 is divided into sections by pins 17 and each section is partially filled with balls 12. In a modification parallel runners 16, Fig. 6, are mounted on a base 10 having upstanding flanges 19, 20.
