Abstract

[Also in Group XXXVIII] In a flashing lamp directional indicating system for a motor vehicle of the kind wherein front and rear signalling lamps 40, 45 on the left-hand side of the vehicle and similar lamps 401, 451 on the right-hand side may be selectively energized over a flasher 50 by appropriate angular movement of a pivoted common actuating member 15 for switches 30, 30<SP>1</SP> which, respectively, control one pair of lamps, and wherein a further actuating member 20 is provided which is capable of linear movement to effect simultaneous operation of both switches and consequent flashing of both pairs of lamps, the actuating member 20 also operates a changeover switch 29, 41-43 which rearranges the supply circuit to the lamps so that the pair 40, 45 are flashed directly by the flasher and the pair 40<SP>1</SP>, 451 are flashed simultaneously therewith over the contacts 57, 58 of a relay having its operating coil 56 in series with the first pair of lamps. By this means overloading of the flasher contacts when both pairs of lamps are in use is avoided.
