Abstract

733,622. Motor vehicle frames. A.E.C., Ltd., and ROBINSON, G. D. March 27, 1953 [March 21, 1952], No. 7386/52. Class 79(4). [Also in Group XXXII] An underframe, for passenger road vehicles having vertical side stressed members forming part of the body sides and acting as deep beams, (see also Group XXXII), comprises cross bearers a and relatively light continuous channel section longitudinals b. The bearers a are pierced with channel section holes e to take the longitudinals which are of less depth than the bearers and are welded to them wherever they pass therethrough. Gusset plates are provided for springs and spring brackets, and the floor is fixed to the bearers, metal section being provided above the longitudinals up to the height of the bearer flanges for floor and seat support.
