In an over and under gun the lock plate and trigger plate are combined in a single member B, Figs. 1, 6, of T-section and a lock mechanism is secured thereto on each side of the tail of the T. The tumblers KL, KR are independently pivoted at K 2 , K 12 on opposite sides of the plate B, the one KL for the top barrel being positioned high and that KR for the bottom barrel being positioned low and rearwardly of the tumbler KL. The tumbler KL, Fig. 2, is formed with a bent K, in which a nose L, on the front of a sear LL can engage, the sear tail L 2 being maintained in contact with the trigger blade by a spring ML. The tumbler KL is urged to its operative position by a main spring (not shown) and a bridle NL holds the tumbler and sear in position against the lock plate B. The lock mechanism incorporating the tumbler KR on 'the other side of plate'B is basically the same. The lock plate B is slotted at E 2 to allow the triggers E to pass therethrough for pivotal attachment to the lock plate. The action body A, Fig. 1, is recessed to receive a tongue B 1 and stud B 2 on the lock plate which is formed with bosses B 3 , B 4 which receive screwed breech pins C, D securing the lock plate to the action strap A 4 . Figs. 7-10 (not shown), indicate the positional relationship of the tumblers KL, KR and strikers G, H in the fired position.
