Abstract

730,102. Enrobing-machines. MEAGHER, W. D., and MEAGHER, G. June 9, 1953 [June 12, 1952], No. 14790/52. Class 28 (1). The various working parts of an enrober are driven by a single motor 22 through a friction clutch 23 to a main shaft 24 from which successive chain &c. drives are taken. The main shaft 24 may drive a variable speed gear box 30 from which the various drives may be taken, e.g. to the openwork endless conveyer 8. Alternatively separate motors 44 and 49 respectively may be used to drive an antitailings roller 21 and the blower 19 respectively. Articles to be coated with chocolate are fed into the enrober by an endless openwork conveyer band 7 and pass at 37 to an endless openwork conveyer band 8 travelling at a higher speed to space out the articles. They receive chocolate on top as they pass under a hopper 15 delivering a curtain of chocolate and receive chocolate underneath from feed rollers 17 forcing chocolate up through the openwork of the conveyer 8. The rollers 17 dip into tray 16 which receives surplus chocolate from the hopper 15. An air blast 18 smoothes the top chocolate coating which is further smoothed by a vibrator roller 20 imparting vibration to the conveyer 8. A roller 21 clears off the chocolate tailings. A pump 13 sucks chocolate from the container 9 and delivers it to a nozzle 14 which drops it through the hopper 15 on to the articles. An agitator 11 is provided in the container 9.
