Abstract

729,893. Valves. PARKER APPLIANCE CO. Oct. 17, 1953, No. 28711/53. Class 135. In a rotary plug valve, seating surfaces 8 with deformable sealing gaskets 9 surrounding the ports in the valve casing are urged by springs 15 into contact with the plug but are forced away from the plug to allow it to turn easily by a cam ring or rings 34 carried by the plug. The valve is shown as containing a rotary spherical plug with an angled passage 19, and the plug carries press fitted rings 28 which are journalled in rings 26 press fitted into the casing. The seating rings 8 are held in the casing by rubber diaphragms 10, and the springs 15 press on the rings through the medium of bushings 11. The cam rings 34 consist of rings with flats formed on their peripheries.
