Abstract
<PICT:0729467/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0729467/IV (a)/2> <PICT:0729467/IV (a)/3> <PICT:0729467/IV (a)/4> In a continuous process of making artificial silk threads in which the threads are passed through an after-treatment bath in spaced parallel relationship and are withdrawn at the exit end of the bath, adjacent threads are withdrawn at different angles. The threads may be withdrawn over a grooved roll 2, Fig. 1, shown in section in Fig. 2, or adjacent threads may be withdrawn alternately over opposite sides of a smooth roll, or the grooved roll may be replaced by a notched plate with recesses of different depths, which may be mounted upon a pivoted lever 8, Fig. 4, to swing about the axis of a roll 9. In a further embodiment, Fig. 6, adjacent threads are guided at different angles by plates 10 and 11.
