Abstract

728,818. Purifying water. PERMUTIT CO., Ltd. Feb. 6, 1953 [Feb. 6, 1952], No. 3157/52. Class 46. A plant for purifying the water in a swimming bath comprises a circuit including a pump, a filter and means for adding a sterilising agent to the water and a second circuit including a pump arranged to be driven only when increase in the normal rate or circulation of water is required so as to provide a second flow of circulating water, the second circuit including means independent of those in the first circuit for adding a sterilising agent but not including any filter. Water is withdrawn continuously from a swimming bath 1 by a pump 4 through grids 2 and a pump suction chamber 3. The pump forces the water through a battery of filters 5, alum and soda being introduced on the way at 6. The water leaving the filters passes through an aerator 7 and is chlorinated at 8 before being reintroduced into the bath 1 through a number of inlets 9. When the number of bathers rises a second pump 10, which may or may not be of the same capacity as the pump 4, is brought into operation and the water delivered by it is chlorinated at 11 and immediately re-introduced into the bath through inlets 12 separate from the inlets 9.
