A multi-spindle duplicating wood turning lathe comprises a number of tool shafts 6 inclined to the longitudinal axes of the workpieces, the tools being axially adjustable. The carriage 1 carrying the tools is fed in a direction at right angles to the axes of the workpieces, such as 2, supported between centres 3, 4. To allow for slight differences in the diameter of the tools 5, the ball-races 7, supporting the shafts, are adjustable longitudinally by nuts 12. Play in the bearings is taken up by a screwed sleeve 15. Instead of setting the shafts at an angle, as shown, the carriage may be displaceable at an angle to the axes of the workpieces. One of the shafts may be non-adjustable.
