In a slider for joining the interlocking elements of two separate stringers and having two substantially parallel plates having inwardly turned side flanges which form guides for the inter-locking elements and a yoke interconnecting one end of each plate with the corresponding end of the other plate to maintain the ends in spaced relationship, the slider comprises a bridge, one end of which extends through a first one of the plates to attach to the other plate, a cam having an effective surface interposed between the bridge and the opposite end of the first plate for determining the spacing of the opposite ends of the plates, the cam being movable to either of two positions each of which provides a different relative spacing between the opposite ends of the plates, one of the positions being the operable position of the slider, the other position being the released position, the cam restraining the plates in released position to limit the maximum distance between the edges of the plate flanges to a distance less than the thickness of the elements. In the arrangement shown, in which the slider comprises a body portion 10 and a pair of guide plates 12, 12<SP>1</SP> joined together at one end by a yoke 14, a leg of an L-shaped bridge member 126 projects through the upper plate 12 and is riveted to the lower plate 12<SP>1</SP>. The other leg of member 126 is provided with notches or recesses to facilitate assembly of a plate positioning member 138 and a pull tab 132. The plate positioning member which lies beneath the pull tab 132 is provided with an aperture for a finger 127 of member 126 to form a pivotal point therefor. The pull-tab is formed with an off-set portion 133, so that when the end thereof engages the other notch the tab lies over the member 138. The tab is provided with a single locking finger 134 which projects through an aperture in the upper plate 12. If during operation, the slider becomes jammed, it is freed by moving the member 138 to the position shown in Fig. 4 thus to increase the distance between the slide plates 12, 121.
