Abstract
726,871. Switching systems. VERNHES, J. M. June 19, 1953 [June 1, 1953], No. 17072/53. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXXVII] A time switch for controlling vehicle signalling circuits comprises a manually-operable contact lever 16 pivoted at 13 and movable into engagement with a bimetal strip 1 so as to complete a circuit through the lever 16, the strip 1, a connection 10 and the supply S. At the same time, the strip 1 is deflected by the lever 16 to close contacts 5, 8 on spring strips 4, 7 so as to close the circuit of a lamp 6. Completion of the circuit through strip 1 causes it to be heated and be further deflected so as to release the lever 16 which has been latched by the strip. The heating circuit is thus broken and the strip 1 cools down and returns to its original position, allowing contacts 5, 8 to open. The duration of closure is determined by a stop 9. Connection 10 may include a current limiting resistance R and strip 4 may be bimetallic so as to compensate for ambient temperature variations. Specification 649,884 is referred to.
