Abstract

726,868. Magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. WIENER RADIOWERKE AKT.-. GES. June 5,1953 [June 5,1952], No. 15561/53. Class 40 (2). In a magnetic transducing apparatus having means for moving a tape or wire in two directions and at normal and fast speeds, a continuously rotatable control shaft 1 and member 2 is provided to select the appropriate operative conditions. The control has three operative positions B, D and F, corresponding to normal forward, fast forward and fast rewind, respectively. When in the position B, a projection on a lever 15 enters a groove running the full length of member 2, whereby a pressure-wheel 20 is permitted to press against a capstan 23 driving the tape or wire. The member 2 has two other grooves which only extend along half the length of the member 2. As the member 2 is rotated from one operative position to another, a projection 6 on a lever 3 enters one of the three grooves in member 2 and permits brake pads 11, through the medium of cords 8, 9, to be released so that under the tension of leaf-springs 12 they are pressed against driving discs 14 supporting the spools.
