Abstract

726,486. Stays for hinged articles. KAYE & SONS, Ltd., J., and DIGGLE, H. July 7, 1953, No. 18762/53. Class 65(1). A door stay comprises a bar or tube 1 attached at one end to a tapered spindle 2 rotatably secured in a tapered hole formed in a bearing member 5, a friction lining 3 being placed between the spindle and hole, and the free end of the bar passes slidably through a slide member 11. The bearing member is secured by means of a flange 6 to the door post. A screw-threaded portion 7 of the spindle projects below the bearing member and carries a spring washer 9 and locking nuts 10, 10a for adjusting the spindle within the hole. The slide member is secured by means of a flange 12 to the door and contains a non-metallic washer 14 which engages the bar and is held in by a screwed collar 15.
