Abstract
726,480. Separating solid materials. RUHRCHEMIE AKT.-GES. June 12, 1953 [July 25, 1952], No. 16194/53. Addition to 715,431. Class 117. Material charged through a pipe 7 is distributed by a body 4 into an annular classification space of increasing diameter, between the body 4 and the portion 1 of an outer casing, where it is subjected to a rising current of air entering the louvres 8 in the funnelshaped portion 2 of the casing. The material is subjected a second time to the airstream as it falls across the louvres 8 before reaching the discharge outlet 3. The part of the casing 5 surrounding the inlet pipe 7 widens upwardly to reduce the air velocity and cause a further separation. Dust-laden air passes through a lateral outlet 6. In a second embodiment, the inner deflecting body has two conical widening and tapering sections so that the material crosses the airstream four times, Fig. 2 (not shown). In a further example, the position of the deflecting body and the outlet velocity of the airstream are adjustable, Fig. 3 (not shown).
