Abstract

725,607. Typewriters. PISSARIDES, S. N. May 4, 1953, No. 12298/53. Class 100 (4). An underlining arrangement in a typewriter comprises an additional guide fork 3 for an underlining symbol carried on a bent end 5 of a type-lever 4 so that it is in the path of movement of normal character type-levers 12 guided in a fork 2. In operation an underlining key 7 is depressed and held or locked in position with the end 5 in the position shown so that when a character key 11 is operated a character head 8 strikes the back of the end 5 so that both the character and underlining are printed together. The type-heads 8 are cutaway to receive and align the end 5.
