Abstract

725,086. Boxes. PASJACK, S. July 21, 1953, No. 20156/53. Class 18. A carton having a filler dividing it into compartments is formed from a blank 1 provided with creases and incisions to form end walls 3. side walls 4, a corner lap 5, bottom forming portions 7 and 8, and top forming portions 10 and 11, portions 12 being cut away to provide entry for a stapling machine when closing the bottom. The filler 15 consists of longitudinal strips 16 and transverse strips 17, which are slotted as at 18 to enable them to be interfitted and collapsed as shown in Fig. 3. The strips 16 and 17 are perforated or scored at 20 to facilitate the forming of a bent portion 21 which extends at least one half the width of a compartment 23, each portion 21 being coated with adhesive 25 when the filler is in the collapsed position. The collapsed filler 15 is then placed on an end wall 3 and adjoining side wall 4 of the blank 1, the tab 5 is coated with adhesive, and the right and left hand free end portions of the blank are folded over the centre portion and the filler, the free edge of the right hand portion being brought into contact with the tab 5. After passing through a press the carton is ready for storage or delivery. To prepare the carton for filling it is pressed into rectangular form, Fig. 7, and the bottom infolds stapled together.
