Abstract

A composition for addition to Portland or like hydraulic cements comprises chloride of lime with one or more additional substances having a decomposing action on the chloride of lime. Chloride of lime is defined, and 2.5 per cent by weight is preferably added. The additional substances specified are ferric, manganous, ammonium and cobalt chlorides; ferrous, manganous and nickel sulphates; ferric oxide, manganic peroxide and hydrogen silico fluoride, preferably two gram equivalents thereof per gram mol of the chloride of lime.
