Abstract
723,319. Rotor driving arrangements. AKT.- GES FUR BERGBAUUND HUTTENBEDARF. June 27, 1951 [July 7, 1950], No. 15229/51. Class 35. A motor has both members A, B rotating in opposite directions and interconnected by a sun-wheel in such a way that the primary member B acts as a fly-wheel so as to provide the acceleration energy for the driven load. A brake disc 5 is mounted on the shaft of the member B. When the latter attains synchronous speed, a shoe 6 brakes the disc 5 so as to reduce the speed of B to that corresponding to the gear ratio and the kinetic energy of B is transmitted to A and the driven load. When the brakes are released the driven load immediately stops. Such an arrangement as this can be usefully adapted for intermittent loads and where the acceleration energy is relatively large. The sum of the speeds of A and B is always equal to the synchronous speed corresponding to the supply frequency.
