Abstract

722,752. Knitting. HEMPHILL CO. July 10, 1952 [July 11, 1951], No. 17436/52. Class 74 (2). To assist the transfer of loops 14 from dial to cylinder needles of a circular machine a number of courses 1, 2 are knitted on all of the cylinder needles whilst the dial needles hold their loops 14, whereafter the dial needles are projected and the sinkers 5, 6 are advanced to engage the fabric at a course prior to that containing the loops to be transferred so as to hold the loops taut for the reception of the cylinder needles. To enable the sinkers to be so operated a flopper cam 9 is provided which after the sinkers have been withdrawn by cam 8 are advanced again so as to coincide with the movement of the dial needles during loop transference.
