Abstract
722,584. Cable couplings; sleeve couplings. ALUMINIUM FRANCAIS. Dec. 10, 1952 [Dec. 11, 1951], No. 31304/52. Class 38 (1). A connector for tapping a conductor or connecting conductors end-to-end comprises a pair of semi-cylindrical members 1, 2, Fig. 2, adapted to embrace a conductor 5, the member 1 having inclined ribs 4 on its longitudinal edges which are received in inclined grooves 3 in member 2 so that as the members are forced longitudinally towards each other they grip the conductor. A socket 6 may be provided for a tapping conductor. In another embodiment Fig. 3, semi-cylindrical members 7, 9 are hinged together at 12 along one side, their opposite edges having oppositely-directed inclined ribs 11, 10 thereon which are received in inclined grooves 13 in a member 8 so that when the latter member is forced over the ribs, members 7, 9 grip a conductor. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, two or more of the members 2 may be secured back-to-back and at any angle to each other for connecting conductors which cross each other.
