The side walls 10 and the end walls 11 of a, stillage are hinged to the base 12 so that they may be folded to lie substantially flat on the base and the end walls are extended below the base to form legs. In the form illustrated the base 12 comprises an angle section framework 14, Fig. 3, to which is secured a sheet-metal or other base 15. Posts 16 at the corners of the base serve to receive the hinge pins 18, 19, 21 of the walls. The hinge pins 18 of one of the side walls 10 are above the hinge pins 19 for the other side wall 10 so that the side walls may lie one above the other when folded and the hinge pins 21 for the end walls 11 are similarly disposed so that the end walls 11 when folded lie one above the other above the side walls 10. Each wall comprises an angle section framework 13 supporting a wall of wire mesh or other.sheet material. The side members 13 of the end walls 11 terminate in a transverse inverted-V section member 22 adapted to take over a similar member 23, Fig. 4, at the upper ends of the end walls 11 of a stillage below ; to facilitate this the end walls 11 are higher than the side walls 10. When the stillage is folded the members 22 serve as handles by which it may be carried. The walls are locked in the unfolded position by engagement of members 26 at the ends of the side walls 10 which engage in the members 23 at the upper ends of the end walls 11. A rod 25 welded over its central section 24 to each member 23 of an end wall is adapted to abut against the adjacent upper edge 13 of the side wall 10 when the stillage is unfolded. Where the height of the walls is less than half the corresponding dimension of the base the hinges for opposite sides may be in the same plane. According to the first Provisional Specification the side walls may be locked .in position by spring loaded sliding bolts which engage with apertures in plates secured to the uprights of the adjacent end walls. According to the second Provisional Specification the bars 24 of Fig. 4 may each be replaced by a pair of pivoted channel section struts biased by springs into engagement with channel section members on the upper edges of the end walls. According to the first Provisional Specification, where the base 12 is of sheet metal with downwardly extending edges the two longer edges may be connected by diagonal cross-bracing members of the same depth as the edges and adapted to be engaged by the forks of a fork lift truck to facilitate engagement of a stillage by forks entered from a corner of the stillage.
