Abstract

717,825. Knitting. STANDARD HOSIERY MILLS, Inc. Jan. 2, 1951 [Oct. 20, 1950], No. 130/51. Class 74 (2). In a stocking or the like, the oblique suture between adjacent rectilinear areas, circularly knitted from different yarns, contains tuck stitches, as in wales W<2>, W<4>, W<6>, involving both yarns and securing the interknitted yarns when the unknitted floats of each yarn behind the area knitted by the other yarn have been cut away. In order to provide for the held loops of, say, the dark yarn in wales W' and W<6>, that yarn is knitted on, as at course 71, into the light yarn area and further tuck stitches are formed in wales W, W<10>. Diamond and zig-zag patterns, in which the arrangement may be used, are depicted. Specification 698,274 is referred to.
