Abstract

717,165. Valves. DRYCO CORPORATION. June 5, 1951 [June 6, 1950], No. 13334/51. Class 135 A regulating valve particularly for use in controlling steam to flat irons, comprises a hollow vertical housing having an inlet 25 for steam at the bottom and an outlet 34 at the top, a narrow inlet passage 28 containing a manuallyadjustable flow valve 31 leading to an accumulating chamber 27, and a wide outlet passage 35 containing a discharge valve 42. The discharge valve is operated through the stem 23 against a spring 45 by a lever actuated by a solenoid controlled by a switch on the iron. On opening the discharge valve an initial surge of steam is obtained from the chamber 27 after which normal flow determined by valve 31 is resumed.
