Abstract
716,381. Outboard motors. EMILSON, R., and TORGARDH, A. V. Sept. 4, 1951, No. 20883/51. Class 114 An outboard motor unit comprises a pump rotor 7 located in a pressure pipe 4 and driven by a driving motor 3, which sucks water through an inlet 10 and expels it as a jet through an outlet 12, the inlet being fitted with a laminar member 13 inclined upwardly. at a small angle in the forward direction. The motor 3 is secured by a clamp 16 to the stern of a boat 1 and drives a propeller pump 7. Curved blades 9 change the direction of the water leaving the propeller to assist its flow through the tube. The motor and propeller unit is adapted to swivel for steering purposes and is carried by adjustable links 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, which allow it to be raised automaticaly during movement of the boat by the flow of water past the laminar member 13 so that resistance to motion is reduced.
