Abstract

The invention comprises a 21-acyloxy-8.17(a )-dihydroxy - 4 - pregnene - 3,20 - dione and its preparation by reacting 8, 17(a ), 21-trihydroxy-4 - pregnene - dione with an acylating agent, e.g. a carboxylic anhydride or chloride. Examples disclose the use of acetic anhydride, propionic anhydride, trimethylacetyl, b -cyclopentenepropionyl and benzoyl chlorides, as acylating agents.
