Abstract
714,930. Television receivers. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 25, 1952 [July 13, 1951], No. 16732/51. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XL(c)] In a limiter circuit for minimizing the effects of interference in the video signal fed to a cathode-ray tube 5, of the type comprising a diode 11 biased to follow the peak level of the signal by the voltage set up across a C.R. circuit 15, 16, a further diode 18 is connected from the C.R. circuit to a fixed potential preset by potentiometer 20 so as to prevent the bias building up to a value exceeding peak white during periods of repeated interference. The positive pulses produced across resistor 14 when diode 11 conducts during interference are applied to the cathode 6 to reduce the tube current. The tube grid 7 is supplied from a tap 9 on the anode lead 4 so that the pulses applied to the grid during interference are of less amplitude than those applied to the cathode and the tube is blacked out.
