Abstract
714,369. Plate heat-exchangers. AIR PREHEATER CORPORATION. May 12, 1952 [June 8, 1951], No. 11990/52. Class 64(3) A heat-exchange component comprises U-shaped channel members 10 mounted in reversed parallel rows so that the channel bases constitute opposite walls of a fluid passage 14 (e.g. for a heating gas), plates 20 being interposed between and welded to the side legs 16 of contiguous channels and constituting with said legs, longitudinal fins in an adjacent air passage formed for example between a pair of adjacent components as show in Fig. 1, and the sides of the component being closed by other plates (e.g. plates 44). The portions of the plates 20 lying in the gas passage may have additional secondary heating surfaces constituted by tabs (e.g. tabs 32, Fig. 2) punched from the plate material.
