713.857. Artificial teeth. VITA ZAHNFABRIK H. RAUTER O. H. G. Oct. 25, 1951 [Jan. 2, 1951], No. 24995/51. Class 81(2) An artificial tooth in which a facing is retained on a reinforcing backing plate by long pins is provided at the junction between the facing and the reinforcing plate with a securing rib which engages in a recess and acts as a countersupport to take up thrusts due to pressure applied during the mastication. In one form of the invention the crown body 1 is secured to the backing plate 2 by long pins 3, a tongue 4 on the backing plate 2 engaging with a recess 5 in the crown body 1. In an alternative construction (not shown) a transverse rib of semi-circular cross-section is provided on the crown body and engages with a corresponding recess on the backing plate. The rib may consist of several parts or may be replaced by cylindrical hemispherical or conical projections.
