Abstract
658,144. Artificial teeth. EGGER, L. June 7, 1949, Nos. 15120, 15121 and 15122. Convention dates, July 6, 1946, July 18, 1946, Feb. 4, 1947. [Class 81(ii)] A composite tooth is made in crown and base sections, one having a conical socket and the other a conical spigot of slightly' smaller angle, so that the crown may rock on the base, and an intermediate cushion of a resilient substance. The tooth may be of porcelain with a synthetic rubber cushion or may be partly or wholly of synthetic plastic material. In one form the crown 11, Fig. 1, is formed with a conical socket 16, the apex of which engages the apex of a conical member 10. The space between the two contains a resilient cushion 12 which is preferably brought out to form a shoulder 40 to provide greater bearing surface. All the parts may be cemented or otherwise secured together. It is also proposed to form the base member as part of the palate of the denture, (see Fig. 4, not shown), and in a further modification the socket is formed in the base part and the spigot in the crown, (see Fig. 5, not shown), this arrangement giving the possibility of increased movement.
