Abstract
713,698. Leaf filters. SCHEIDT, W. March 28, 1952 [April 12, 1951], No. 8014/52. Class 46 The distending structure of a bag filter comprising a member a which constitutes the filtrate discharge pipe, members c1, c2, c3, connected to one another and to the member a preferably by hinges d, to d4 to enable the frame to be collapsed, and chains or the like e, is characterized by the provision of helical springs or the like f in the chains to maintain them under tension. The pipe a may be provided with a longitudinal slit h, Fig. 3, in its lower surface but preferably is provided with spaced openings. These are preferably constituted by the spaces between the turns of a wire helix g along the slit h, the helix g being pushed into the pipe. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the helix is wound around or pushed on to the outside of the pipe a. Instead of chains with springs there may be provided for example helical springs, rubber hoses, multi-twisted rubber strips or woven rubber cords.
