Classes 106 (3) and (4) Recording-apparatus for use on vehicles for recording on a diagram disc the driving conditions, namely, driving speed, the distance covered and the driving and stopping periods of the vehicle, the driving and stopping periods with one driver being recorded on an annular field of the disc by an oscillating pendulum having a writing member thereon in contact with the disc comprises an additional manually operated device which restricts the movement of the pendulum so as to record the driving conditions for other drivers within the annular field, but occupying only a part of the field, whereby there can be recorded within the field the driving conditions for several drivers. A pendulum 2 having a weight 3 and pen 4 is pivoted at 1 and held in unstable equilibrium by a spring 5 when a vehicle is stationary and is operated by the vibrations of the vehicle when it is moving, its movements being limited by stops 6, 7, while the pen 4 records on an annular field of a clock driven chart 8 a narrow line 9 when the vehicle is stationary and a broad line equally disposed radially on both sides of the line 9 when the vehicle is moving. The weight 3 has a pin 11 disposed between the prongs of a forked double lever 12 pivoted at 13 and having a slit 14 into which extends an adjusting pin 15 mounted on a shaft 16 operable by a switch lever 17 and held in set position by a square piece 18 and leaf spring 19. When the switch lever 17 is turned to position 1, Fig. 2, one prong of the forked lever engages the pin 11 and halves the amplitude of oscillation of the pendulum so that when the vehicle moves the pen traces a wide line 20 on one side only of the line 9 and when the switch lever 17 is turned to position 2 the other prong of the forked lever engages the pin 11 and the pen traces a wide line on the other side of the line 9. Thus with the three positions of the switch corresponding to different drivers, a record is obtained of who is driving. The adjusting device may be provided with a lock 22 which can only be operated manually with the aid of different keys, one driver's key only allowing a switching from 0 to 1, another's only from 0 to 2 and the keys only being removable when in position 0.
