Abstract
713,206. Crop sprayers. PEARCH, L. C. Jan. 9, 1952, No. 664/52. Class 69 (3) An axial flow fan 15 is mounted at the rear of the machine and drives an air current forwards to be discharged by deflectors substantially at right angles to the fan axis, and spray nozzles 39 are angularly spaced on a rotatable ring 32 so as to extend around a limited portion of its circumference. The ring is rotatably adjustable for directing the nozzles upwards for vertical spraying or sideways for lateral spraying. A conical spreader 30 is welded to the ring which is supported on rollers 20, and the nozzles are fed from branch pipes 38 connected to an arcuate pipe 40. Arched guide sections 36 are arranged around the pipe 40 between adjacent branch pipes 38 ; the sections may be hollow and supplied with liquid for feeding the nozzles as described in Specification 698,625. An air discharge shield 42 is secured to the spreader 30 opposite the nozzles, and co-operates with a trough 46 which cuts off air discharge from the lower part of the apparatus. Some of the nozzles may be blanked off by placing an unapertured plate over their outlets. Specification 623,068 also is referred to.
