Abstract
712,833. Fluid-actuated valves. BERNAT, R., and BERNAT, H. June 5, 1951, No. 13271/51. Class 135 A clack or check valve, formed e.g. in a compressor piston 1, comprises a non-magnetic seat 4 around an orifice 5 to which are fitted and regularly distributed, e.g. in rings or stars, parts 6, 6' of magnetized metal which attract a very thin magnetic sheet-metal valve member 2. The parts may be in the form of single or paired dowels or rings for one or more annular valve members controlling a number of orifices and the latter may be connected by superficial grooves 7. The valve member may be guided by pins fixed in the seat or consist of an annular disc clamped on its seat along a diameter by a boss on the stop 3 for limiting its lift. The seat and stop which are softer than the valve member may be tinned or galvanized to reduce shock, the valve member may be backed by corrugated washers to assist the magnetic recall, and the top of the piston with the magnetized parts may be ground flat.
