711,737. Ventilators. UNIVERSAL ASBESTOS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and SNELLING, J. C. June 17, 1952 [Sept. 12, 1951], No. 21469/51. Class 25. [Also in Group XI] A ventilator terminal for heating apparatus comprises an open-ended pressure equalizing duct 12 disposed ambiently about the flue 1 of the apparatus and adapted to pass through the wall bounding the space containing the apparatus so that air can pass inwardly in the ambient space, i.e. in a direction opposite to that of the outward flow of gases in the flue itself, the flue 1 projecting forwardly beyond the duct in the wall and carrying a deflector 4 flared outwardly rearwardly towards the wall and three equidistantly spaced fixing lugs 7 and also forwardly away from the flue to the peripheral edge 8<SP>1</SP>, a cap 14 being fixed to the deflector by nut and bolt connections. In order that the duct 12 may be used in walls of varying thickness it comprises telescopically joined portions 6, 5, circular spider web-like flanges 10, 20, with respective air inlet holes 13, 21, forming the ends of the portions 6, 5 respectively and serving to support and locate the flue 1 in the wall. The flue 1 carries at its forward end a sleeve 2 which is united within, or formed integrally with, the deflector 4. The flue, duct, and deflector are made of asbestos cement or other heat-resistant material.
