Abstract
711,428. Feedwater heating systems &c. A.P.V. CO., Ltd. May 12, 1952 [May 10, 1951], No. 11072/51. Class 64(1) Feedwater or other liquid is heated by indirect contact heat-exchange with a vapour into which a corrosive or dirty effluent liquid from an ammonia still or other apparatus is converted, only the' vapour being used in the heat-exchange. In the system shown, feedwater flowing successively through plate heat-exchangers 3, 4, 5 is heated in them by vapour from evaporators 11, 10, 9 to which liquid effluent from an ammonia still is supplied. The evaporators 9, 10, 11 are maintained at successively lower sub-atmospheric pressures, so that the effluent flashes to vapour in them successively. Condensate from the first two plate heat-exchangers 5, 4 is taken to the next vaporizer 10, or 11.
