Abstract
709,532. Building panels. RICHARDS, H. L. Jan. 28, 1952 [Oct. 27, 1950], No. 1898/52. Divided out of 709,517. Class 87 (1). [Also in Group V] A cellular building panel is formed of intersecting ribs 4 of plaster, concrete or bitumastic compound in which reinforcement 6 is embedded, comprising strips of metal which are slotted where they cross one another. The panel may carry a strip 20 round its edge (to which tho reinforcement 6 is secured) which also forms part of the side of the mould in which the panel is cast (see Group V) and is of wood, plastic or hollow metal. The panel may have facings 12, 13, of the same material as the ribs, on one or both sides and these facings are reinforced by layers of hessian 14. The edge ribs 8 have a central groove 10 for engaging a jointing strip, a similar groove being shown on the outside of the strips 20. The facings 12 and 13 are undercut at 15 so as to provide a key for jointing between adjacent panels.
